Track results from Saturday at TMP
Met up with 8-10 HEMI owners and hit TMP on Saturday.
The track wasn't too busy and we could get lots of runs in
Track prep was excellent....I was hardly spinning at all.
Weather was: 88-90 degrees F
Barometer: 29.79
Elevation: 600 feet
Dew point: 63F
Density Altitude: 2980 feet
3/4 tank of gas
28psi in the rear tires (36psi in the fronts)
25 cent fan mod
coolant temp around 195-205 degrees
Best run was:
sixty: 2.14
330: 5.86
1/8th: 8.850
MPH: 82.52
1000: 11.435
1/4: 13.58
mph: 103.83
Ran another 13.58 and some 13.7s a 13.9 etc
I experimented in drive and autostick...With the same coolant temp, same launch technique and same lane I ran 2 tenths slower with the car in drive versus autostick every time.
I am really happy with the times considering the DA was pretty high and the car was hot
What I thought was really interesting was what one of the other guys did...
He ran the car at 200 degrees coolant temp and went 13.7@103mph with a 2.1 sixty
He let the car cool for an hour and ran with the temps in the 170 range.
He went 13.14@110.5mph on a 2.03 sixty!!!
The ECM in these cars just KILL timing when the car is hot, I wouldn't have believed it was that bad if I didnt see it with my own eyes. He left the car in drive for both passes and had TCS off.
I was pleased with how the car ran... I had the second fastest SRT8 there. All the other guys had MOPAR CAI and one guy had a Magnaflow catback.
Great group of guys and it was a lot of fun. There were several RTs there as well...
I could have done the 1 hour cooldown and ice the intake etc but I want to see how the car runs hot like it does on the street (200 plus degrees)
