I pulled a 5.7 out of my 2005 ram 1500 that blew a piston. Long story short someone forgot to put the clamp back on the bottom of the water pump and all of the coolant came out while driving down the highway. I had never taken a block completely apart before so I dug in. I had the block checked for cracks and the heads were checked for warpage as well as cracks all to be found just fine and usable. My idea is to rebuild this as a 6.1 and put it in a car. I plan on getting the block and heads cleaned and surfaces milled. Has anyone on this forum ever taken on a project like this?
