The plastic crate looked like it was dropped from 10 stories up, I was not home when it was delivered, but went I did get home I was shocked to think fedex would leave it off like that with no note or anything. It must have been a wild couple of days ride to get here. I don't think anything you could have done, short of putting it in an Abrams M1A2, would have got here unharmed they way it was treated. The whole back of the plastic crate is gone with about 10 inches of the trannt sticking out. The cardboard that you had ducked taped to protect it, is all that kept the front of the tranny in the crate, with the mangled up dip stick tube. The rear tail shaft is broken, the pan dented, and anything else you sent, must have fell out the giant hole in the back of the box. The blue plastic wrap should have been enough to keep it in box with proper handling. I don't have any ideas on how this could have happened other than it was totally mishandled. Unbeleavable is all I can say.
I don't think you could have done much more to ship it, except maybe put it in a large plastic bag, and used more cardboard, and styrofoam to protect it if it fell out of the crate but I guess your probally like me an that if I put something in a crate I kinda expect it to still be in it when delivered, a couple of states away. Let me know whats up with it, on your end and I'll go thank Fedex here, for ruining my weekend project, and see what they have to say about this. If I were them I would have never delivered this! and left a note
asking me to come and view the damaged shipment, as this is clearly their fault. Call me, or send me a email of when you 'll be home, as I have free long distance calling and I'll call you back. Except for Fedex, this would have been a great deal and I'll leave you positive trader feedback, Because I feel this was beyond anyones control but Fedex.
