Seller sold me shortblock that was supposed to have Caddy lifters....after buying and dropping off at the machine shop, opened up the motor and there are NO lifters.

Tried contacting him, will not respond.

He will scam you out of parts. Dishonest.

Finally got a hold of seller through phone, still waiting on a resolution

Finally got a hold of the seller and asked for 100 dollars for the caddy race lifters not being in the motor (which is more than fair since people sell used caddy lifters for more than 100 bucks since they're 300 dollars new). Seller said no.

Buyer beware, guy promised they would be in the motor, I bought it assuming he held his word. Machinist broke open the motor later on, lifters were not there, only the lifter trays. He said he didn't check to see if lifters were in the motor when he bought the motor from the original owner and basically sold it to me without any lifters even though ad said they were included.

Also, he said the only option was to return the motor for a full refund, BUT the motor had to be unchanged from the sold condition.

however that is not an option since my machinist already took it apart to find a motor that had OVER 0.006 piston to wall clearance. Which is way too much for a supposedly n/a motor that had low miles.

Either way, seller did not make offer to make a fair compromise knowing he had sold a motor that he GUESSED had caddy lifters, NEVER checked to verify, and the listed it anyways and sold it to me.

I figure a good seller will check to make sure they have all the parts they have listed before they sell. He admitted to not checking the motor out to see if it had all the parts that it was supposed to have and sold it to me without knowing for sure. Now that we know whats in the motor, he won't refund me a fair market value for the lifters that were supposed to be in there.

1. Buyer submitted negative feedback before contacting me over the phone to resolve the issue. Yes he did send an IM, but lately I don't have the time to check my IM's regularly. That's why my phone number is listed in all of my adds. The add was deleted but he could have gotten the number out of one of the adds where I am selling other stuff.

2. Initially buyer inspected the shortblock himself thoroughly and didn't catch the issue. I delivered the engine (free of charge) to his builders shop where both the buyer and his builder again had an opportunity to catch the issue.

3. No, I did not verify that lifters were in the short block. So they may not have been (I have to go by buyer's word, which may or may not be true). When I originally bought the short block I gave a friend of mine the funds and sent him to inspect the short block and buy it if it met his criteria (he is way more knowledgeable than me). The short block was bought from another customer of the builder (Port Pros) that put together my 424ci motor that just sold here too. And the transaction was conducted while the builder was present. So I wrote down what I was told about the block and didn't have any reason to doubt the info. Don't know what happened to lifters, I certainly don't have them. And I certainly wouldn't lie about them just so that I can have the problems later.

4. I had the best intetion of making things right. Considering that I already gave him a pickup tube for free, delivered the engine free of charge to his pick of location, gave him a week to come up with funds (he wasn't willing to put down a deposit) while I had two other for sure buyers, I am not willing to just refund him $100 for the lifters. I am willing to refund full $2000 for the low mileage 408 iron shortblock (with forged rotating assembly) with everything minus the lifters, rear cover, oil pan and windage tray. It has to be unmolested, like I gave it to him. It was not bought in pieces, it was bought whole.

5. He says that it's not an option since the motor is already apart. Why? Why were the major components busted apart before throrough visual inspection? I think he just wants a rebate from an already killer deal, and he is trying to strongarm me with negative feedback.

6. I am an honest seller and that's a fact. Not trying to decieve anyone. Other people on and off this board can very that. Sometimes issues happen and I'll try to rectify situation within reason. Other than that all I can honor is that if it's not as advertised bring it back in ORIGINAL condition for a full refund of selling price.

You admitted that you do not even know if the lifters were in the motor.

You say that I need to return the motor, pay the shop money to assemble it (over 300 dollars in labor + the labor to inspect it), and then you'll give me my money back?

Sounds like an unfair deal. I offered that you pay 100 dollars for the 300 dollar lifters that were missing. A 3rd party not affiliated with either of us has stated that the lifters you dropped off directly to their hands does not have lifters.

You have all the money that was expected in the deal...so you got your end of the bargain. I was promised a short block with caddy lifters...I did NOT get my end of the bargain.

Now you want me to pay over 700 dollars to get my money back?

Sounds like you like scamming people.

STRAIGHT UP, YOU SOLD A PRODUCT AND DID NOT INCLUDE THE PRODUCT WHEN YOU WERE PAID IN FULL

You are not the victim

BY THE WAY

your "killer deal" of a supposedly low mile n/a motor had over 0.006 piston to wall clearance and worn out bearings. Way to much for a motor you claim as less than 2000 miles. So much in fact that the shop will not put the motor back together as is because it is excessive and needs to be re-honed and re-built.

Like I said before: BRING THE MOTOR BACK IN ORIGINAL CONDITION AND I'LL BE GLAD TO REFUND YOUR MONEY. I'll run it myself.

You are not a victim, I didn't con you.

Since you decided to hang up on me on the phone so you can have the last word why do you keep replying here? You left me negative feedback and explained why, I replied. I left you negative feedback and explained why, you replied. Let's leave it at that.

YOU made the mistake...So you pay to put it back together.

I didn't make any mistakes, you made the mistake.

I don't see why I should have to pay for your mistake.

So I'll see you in small claims court.

adios...I'm done with you on this site...I'll see you in front a judge instead.
