I was in need of a tuning manual/reference book that would help answer some of the questions I had when tuning. I spoke to Dan about his book/Software combo and about a few weeks later, I found myself chatting with him at his shop after purchasing it.
The Manual is great and very informative. The Case studies are balanced and tie up some loose ends. He mentioned that if I had any questions to give him call and he would be glad to help however, to read through the manual first.
Well, i've been tuning and using his manual A LOT! However, the more I learn sometimes, I find myself with questions that might be be 100% in the manual. I did just that today, I called to try to clear up some doubts that I had and I was greeted with a very not the same attitude as I did when I purchased his book.
"...I need to pay my mortgage too..." is one of the things that I was told over the phone by Dan. I can understand if one is busy but his customer service AFTER purchasing his book (and made his money) is nothing like it was BEFORE i purchased his book.
I usually don't write these kind of posts down but I'm extremely disappointed as I have never treated him with disrespect for him to suddenly be condescending and rude.
Honestly, the manual is a good one and anyone interested in tuning should atleast consider purchasing it HOWEVER, EXPECT TO GET THE SAME KIND OF SERVICE AFTER YOUR PURCHASE. He might know what he's doing when building/tuning these cars but everyone has to start somewhere and he has OBVIOUSLY forgotten that. He got what he wanted (my cash) and now is "well, read the manual" and go away.
Just a heads up.

Perhaps you're confusing rude with frustrated. You fail to mention in your post that I have spent over 76 minutes with you (logged on record) on the phone in total discussing your tuning projects in detail. Do you think the price you paid for the book justifies this kind of time in tutoring you? I mentioned to you at the time of purchase that I'm happy to field the odd question, but I also made abundantly clear to you that the purchase of the book does not include personal tech support. You claimed you understood this, and yet you'll put up a negative post about my "support" without disclosing how many of your questions I have patiently answered. It seems you're more than happy to take advantage of one's good nature. Lastly, let me ask you this: How many other technical books have you purchased in the past whose authors would take a phone call from you? Any phone call at all? Well, here's one that took more than a few. I'm sorry you feel this is inadequate for a book you had purchased.
