I know DCX is very secretive about their ECM's, but is there any tuning software on the horizon for the modern hemi? It's hard to believe there is no tuning option for a very popular modern EFI engine like the Hemi. Is it because no one can crack the source code (encrypted?), or maybe no one has really tried?

For the 5.7 theres lot of tuning options. For the 6.1 SRT8 lineup there are basically none!! Theres some reflash of the PCM (controversial) and some tricked out TCM (transmission control module also controversial. The good thing at least is that the SRT engineers hold online chats monthly with the enthusiasts to answer and share new info. The only mods that are "SRT Team" approved are the CAI and the catback, which I currently have. But the beast asks for more!!

I spoke to the guys at GS motor sports at SEMA and they said they where getting close. An overlay system is all thats available for now. There is just so much information to deal with.

yeah, I wonder what kind of potential those engines will have once can really be tuned well. Should put out some good numbers I'd imagine.

From the overall feel of my ChSRT8, a LOT can be gained.. The motor feels powerful once the PCM lets loose of some of its insanely protective torque management.

Even with the ESP off the thing is still there....it turns it off about 80%.....

Yeah, I noticed that the first time I tried to hang the ass end of the car out at 65 MPH. As soon as it started to step out, ESP (while turned "off") kicked in and straightened me back out. So much for having a little fun :(

Bore change...

5.7L Hemi is 3.920" bore x 3.580" stroke
6.1L Hemi is 4.055" bore x 3.580" stroke

The 6.1 also come with a forged crankshaft compared to the 5.7's cast crankshaft. The 5.7 seems to have a little more beef in the main web design than the 6.1. The 6.1 has a MUCH stronger deck design than the 5.7. Neither casting will take much of an over bore from our sonic check numbers.

That's been in the works for months/year now. I think a lot of people have stopped holding their breath.

I heard that B&G has been pretty successful with their LX platform. Give them a shout. As far as the GSM stuff, I wouldn't bother with with their kit. Too many complaints about KABOOM'S. :judge:

Superchips has a 6.1 programmer coming very soon if not ready now. I am also working with them on some custom stuff.

The B&G seems to be great for the LX cars and less dependable on the Rams.

I've also heard that Split Second has had luck with their ARC1 for MAP tuning...........cheap compared to the B&G but it won't write out the MDS nor bump timing. :(
