Pat7272 04-30-2007, 10:50 PM COOL! I think I know what Im getting myself for graduation..
BigBronco 04-30-2007, 11:21 PM A little competition never hurts ;)
JPMuscle 05-01-2007, 12:08 AM ya think sombody is gonna get fired over those photos lol
ChaseSS 05-01-2007, 12:38 AM COOL! I think I know what Im getting myself for graduation..
my thoughts exactly :)
DONAIMIAN 05-01-2007, 07:29 AM moving faster than I thought
CHRISPY 05-01-2007, 08:13 AM I can't wait to see the options list for this car. When my lease is up on the 300C SRT8 I'll probably look at one of those as a replacement. They will be bigger than the Camaro which is better suited to me with the dogs/kids :)
I wonder if the new 500hp motor will make it in this car?
Cheers,
Chris
LT1wannabe 05-01-2007, 09:20 AM uh oh....spaghettio's
kornfreak_401 05-01-2007, 09:20 AM uh oh is completely right! dead sexy man!
8ALTNG 05-01-2007, 10:37 AM That is going to be a gorgeous(sp) car  I cain't wait to see one on the streets and see how they really preform
Rhode Island Red 05-01-2007, 11:44 AM It would be great on dates if there would be rear bench style seating :D
LT1wannabe 05-01-2007, 12:10 PM It would be great on dates if there would be rear bench style seating :D
Dodge is cool, but not cool (or bold) enough to put the bench seat in the back.
CHRISPY 05-01-2007, 12:18 PM I'd love the rear bench so I could strap in three car seats LOL! :)
jhelms 05-01-2007, 12:30 PM Very cool!
Ntimid8r7 05-01-2007, 03:30 PM It would be nice to see some more retro cars coming out instead of the same deadbeat lines that are shoved down our throats every year.
Scooter70 05-01-2007, 07:20 PM Sweet.
brad8266 05-01-2007, 07:37 PM ya think sombody is gonna get fired over those photos lol

OKcruising 05-02-2007, 01:31 AM Damn, she's fine.
I can't wait till someone tastefully mods one... all black, serious tint, some ginormo wide rear meats. Mmmm....
badjuju342 05-02-2007, 02:32 AM Let's see Honda or Toyota build something as cool as that ! They keep trying to convince us of how much better their crappy little econoboxes are.....
Larry 05-03-2007, 07:37 AM Here's a link to more pics. Looks like it will have a 6.1 engine. Wonder what hp/torque figures it will have.

Tylerb59 05-03-2007, 02:30 PM That's going to be one sick looking car. I can't wait to see one in person!
TwittyPyro 05-03-2007, 08:07 PM Thats aweosme, i am not one to buy new cars, but i might have to make an exception.
ramairroughneck 05-03-2007, 11:17 PM Damn, she's fine.

Plus a nasty cam thru duels.
 I like! Wondering what these will put down for numbers?

Any idea of the release dates for these to hit the streets?
ChevyChad 05-04-2007, 09:28 PM Sweet! Should make for some great competition :drive:
zero_proto 05-05-2007, 01:58 AM i think this is going to be great. It is going to be the second coming of the musclecar wars!!!! It is already starting of pretty heated.
95ttoplt1 05-05-2007, 05:04 AM If they do all the terrible programming that they did on the current SRT-8 line up they will kill the car and its following much like what is starting to develop with the SRT-8 crowd at present.
Problems will be:
No way to tune the computer
Drive by wire with terrible lag and disconnect feeling
Way to intrusive ESP with no way to disable completely
Terribly slow shifting transmission
No manual Option
ADAPTIVE LEARNING
Just to name a few.
And yes I have a SRT-8 and the title transfers next week to the new owner. After 6000 miles I can't take it anymore. The platform has such potential but with DCX's abortion can-bus system and no way to fix it, the car is a dissapointment.
Nine Ball 05-05-2007, 09:49 AM wrong. There is no "cheap" way to get around the DCX factory tuning. You can always install a stand-alone engine management system if you want to get wild, but figure that is $2000-2500 to do so. ;)
CLAYTORSHARLEY 05-05-2007, 09:54 AM 95ttoplt1,
You can totally disable ESP on SRT8 only. Press the ESP button to turn off ESP then press and hold button until ESP disabled displays on odometer. Then shift trans to 1 and there is no torque management. Now you can boil the tires off the rims. Have fun. :drive:

Right and how does all that interface with the can-bus system. Thats right it doesn't. And then what do you us to control the tranny? I haven't seen any programmable TCM or a stand alone TCM for the tranny yet. And then what if you want to change gears in the rear?? That right there is no way(electronically) to get around this either.
Sorry the electrical hang-ups with the platform are huge and well documented. Look at a dyno sheet for any SRT-8 and check out the AFR reading. Looks like Michael J Fox was trying to draw a straight line.
No thanks.
AND BTW the ESP can never be fully diabled, as well as the torque management. I had the B&G stage 2 and it was still there. Maybe if you get the stage 3 or higher where the ESP is deleted from the computer completely but that wasn't an option for me as it was my wifes car.
I think I know the hold the button trick :eyes:
Sorry guys this car just really left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I'm not talking from "what I have read on the internet" I have experienced this first hand.
way better looking than the new maro coming out. as long as it looks like that it will be awesome. i dont like the idea of not having a way of tuning it and not having a feel for the car, if its like the srt8 that one guy was talking about. and with this hemi and a big KB super charger i bet 600 rwhp wont be an issue...just my thoughts
95ttoplt1 05-05-2007, 05:54 PM ^600 whhp wouldn't be an issue now on motor if a viable tuning option was available now for the 6.1, I mean seriously we have the top end to do it.
KB hasn't jumped in yet because there is no real tuning option out yet. Don't believe me check there site.
The Maro' get my vote big time over this thing, DCX has too many lawyers watching the assembly line for this to be a success.
02_LS1 05-05-2007, 07:15 PM Any idea of the release dates for these to hit the streets?
Looks like the production version will be shown at the Chicago auto show on February 6, 2008 http://www.dodgechallengercountdown.com/

the programming does leave something to be desired, but its one of those things that you have to deal with. if you didnt have an f-body before, you probably wouldnt notice. its not THAT bad. jeez. did you ever drive a stock ls1 camaro in automatic? they had torque management too. took a couple years for tuners to finally figure it all out and eliminate it. any automatic will have torque management....its just the time it will take to eliminate it. only gripe i have is the dead feel when you hook off the line at the track. but hey, whatever...cant have everything ;) 16K miles on mine and ive dragged it, road raced it, daily driven- sat in traffic, rain, country roads, etc. its an all around great car and performs flawlessly.
95ttoplt1 05-06-2007, 04:50 AM I still have my F-body :) guess where the Charger payment is going?? I have an LT1 so no torque management ever.
The LX platform does have alot of potential in the hardware, it just getting the electronics to let you do it.
green28 05-06-2007, 02:22 PM Went to a dodge dealer yesterday looking for a car for the wife and a salesman was telling me that the charger didn't pass crash testing and that they had pushed back the progress a bit. BUT, I don't know what to believe cause this guy didn't know much about the Caliber he was trying to sell us, so I don't want to read too much into anything he told me about the Charger. Could very well be old information.

It would of had to be the Challenger the Charger is already out.
gyrene2003 05-08-2007, 09:26 PM damn, i need to put a damn cam in!!
Rhode Island Red 05-09-2007, 10:35 AM How good is the car if the PCM is locked and cannot be changed thus preventing tuning ? Any luck in the aftermarket hacking Chrysler's PCM'?
Moparnos (The SLP Guy) 05-09-2007, 12:40 PM sweet ass car i cant wait to get mine
02_LS1 05-09-2007, 09:53 PM I need to see it in person before I decide on the Challenger or Camaro.
Patrick G 05-10-2007, 05:18 PM The Mopar E-bodies were the best of the musclecars from the 70s in my opinion. Hopefully, the new ones will continue to turn heads. Can't wait to see one in the flesh.
TMar99Z28 05-14-2007, 10:24 AM I wonder what kind of effect Daimler selling it's shares in Chrysler will have on their drivetrains. My roommate was telling me that most of their transmissions are a Daimler design (He's a service tech at a Chrysler dealership).
slammer454 05-14-2007, 01:41 PM straight outta Brampton! next door to me, come on Oshawa, Step it up! :D
Street Lethal 05-17-2007, 09:46 PM That is going to be a gorgeous(sp) car  I cain't wait to see one on the streets and see how they really preform
Street Lethal 05-17-2007, 09:52 PM I get damn chills whenever I watch that small video. Patrick, you guys over at Thunder Racing are going to have your hands full during the next few years. Now, if only they brought back the Plymouth Barracuda....
jimmypop13 05-17-2007, 10:01 PM I havn't decided yet if I want to get the new Challenger or Camaro, but with all the tuning problems it sounds like the Challenger has, what's the point of it? It sounds like it would be good for exhaust and intake and that's it
CHRISPY 05-22-2007, 12:55 PM I have an 06 SRT8 and love it. (I've also owned five LT1/LS1 cars including a C5) The car is awesome. As for slow shifting the SRT8 WOT shift is completed under 300rpm. That is VERY fast. No comparison to the vette or fbody.
The brakes on the car are insane as well.
My only complaint is the lack of posi in the rear end and the drive by wire setup. Even factoring that in it is the best car I've owned.
Anything that weighs 4400 pounds with driver that has the capability of high 12s@110mph bone stock is a beast.
Cheers,
Chris
proxemics 05-23-2007, 10:09 AM I keep hearing that the challenger gona be limited production car only 12000 unit which is disappointing
Adam_346 05-25-2007, 01:14 AM looks good
1BADBURB 05-29-2007, 07:20 PM personally...only havehad chevys, but i would buy that DODGE in a second!!!
Aj
exstanger 06-05-2007, 09:37 AM I remember all the complaing when cars become fuel injected, then obd II. Look at what this has allowed us to do now. I say give the tuners a liitle while and they'll find a way.
Mike00ss 06-07-2007, 10:23 PM Looks like some nice competition.
cknhwk 06-09-2007, 06:33 AM i HEAR this ride go;SSSSSSS for over 4O;OOO...
IS that true???????........

:rotflmao: My thoughts exactly!
6techniques 06-13-2007, 03:00 PM i cant wait to see these things on the street!
S1LV3R 06-14-2007, 10:52 AM That one photo looks like they left the car out back too long and somebody "tagged" the quater panel
ChaseSS 06-14-2007, 08:14 PM i HEAR this ride go;SSSSSSS for over 4O;OOO...
IS that true???????........
I'm sure an SRT-8 version will.... how cool would it be if it were an SRT-10 version (viper motor) if they put in a freakin truck why not a muscle car?
1FastBrick 06-15-2007, 04:45 AM I know from personal experince, It is diffenitly as bad as it looks!!! I would spend my money on that car in a heart beat over the chevy and I am a die hard chevy guy. I own a few Gm cars/trucks but would definitly be prowd to drive that MOPAR...

Exactly what prevented me from owning an SRT-8.
ZR1 DREAMING 06-18-2007, 05:34 PM So I saw 6.1 on the hood.... what else will be offered? Will that be the baddest motor to go in it?
hawk99 06-20-2007, 12:11 AM It looks awesome, I plan on getting one soon after college! But honestly, I think it really needs a spoiler. It just looks odd / incomplete without it. I hope the production version has one.
RedWS601 06-20-2007, 09:06 PM I thought it was going to be a true hardtop? I see a pillar between the side windows.
NemeSS 06-24-2007, 02:24 PM i see a killer turbo system in its future :secret2:
PA Z06 06-26-2007, 06:36 PM Very cool

New photo of the production version on the road.
MavrikTA 06-29-2007, 10:57 AM Oh! Shit!!! :)
PotatoeMasher 07-01-2007, 02:13 AM My only concern is ground clearance issues, its sitting about 3 inches off the ground but it still has an inch and a half of fender gap runing 20s.
ChaseSS 07-30-2007, 11:10 PM Just read today that it will have the viper transmission :) and 2 hemi's to choose from
PotatoeMasher 07-31-2007, 12:42 AM It will have the new TR-6060 in the GT-500s, and in the new Vipers, Corvettes, and Pontiac G8s. Im sure it would come with at least two Hemis just like every other LX, the 5.7 and the 6.1 in the SRTs. But by then there maybe somthing else? 392 perhaps? One can hope... :pimp:
Adam_346 08-08-2007, 06:21 AM Oh that car is gonna be pimpin .... can I order one with an LSX engine?

skeletonizer 08-19-2007, 12:07 PM Note the single piston calipers. WTF?
Mrbowtie26 09-18-2007, 10:38 PM I sent an email to dodge telling them that I would chose a camaro over a new challenger if they didnt offer a standard tranny and they replied that they will be offering a 5 speed standard with it !!!!!
lsp408 09-19-2007, 08:42 AM screw 5 speed, either go with old school 4 speed or put t-56 in it
Mrbowtie26 09-19-2007, 05:52 PM screw 5 speed, either go with old school 4 speed or put t-56 in it
I agree I would prefer a 6speed T-56 but a 5 speed is better than an auto for me anyways. I would worry about wheather it could handle the hp reliably though.

if its the same one from viper, it should handle the power. unless you start to put go fast parts :burn:
